The Brewery Arts Center welcomes back the "Cultures of Nevada" concert and performance series with nationally ranked musical artists, Chris Proctor and Montana Skies in two separate concerts in October at the BAC Performance Hall, 511 W King Street.

Chris Proctor: October 12th at 7:30pm.

Chris Proctor, is the winner of the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, and popular Sugarhouse, Rounder, Flying Fish and Windham Hill recording artist and internationally recognized 6 and 12-string guitarist, composer, recording artist, performer, and clinician for Taylor Guitars. Chris Proctor is known around the western world as one of the modern masters of fingerstyle guitar, and is at the forefront of contemporary steel-string guitar. Since winning the National Fingerstyle Guitar competition, he has toured constantly in North America and Europe, releasing a steady stream of recordings of his compositions and arrangements. His music is rooted in classic Americana- spiced with soul, folk, Celtic, jazz, pop, and classical flavors, all of which are in evidence in the 9 finely-crafted medleys which comprise Close and Personal Friends, a stunning set of arrangements of the music he grew up with.

He has appeared on two popular Windham Hill Guitar Samplers and was senior clinician for Taylor Guitars for more than twenty years. To honor him Taylor manufactured 100 “Chris Proctor Signature Model” guitars to his unique design specifications. Chris’s warm stage presence and sense of humor, his 12-string and slide work, his adventurous 6-string techniques and tunings, his stunning original guitar pieces and arrangements, and his pioneering use of the electronic guitar bow have all made him a favorite with guitar fans everywhere. This will be his first Carson City area concert appearance in many years and is sure to be a fantastic evening of great music and fun (Chris will also be teaching a finger style guitar workshop from 1-3 pm, registration thru TRAMP). Tickets: $20 Reserved Floor, $10 General, $8 BAC Members/Seniors/Students.

Montana Skies: Oct 18th at 7:30pm.

Based out of Atlanta, Montana Skies has garnered top reviews from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Chattanooga Free Times Press, Savannah Now and more. They have a dynamic presence on stage and mix classical music with other genres such as pop/rock, flamenco and more. In concert, these award winning musicians delve into music from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi, and House of the Rising Sun, as well as their own originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel.

Their name, Montana Skies, is a metaphor for musical freedom, and they continue to follow their creative instincts far beyond traditional boundaries. Montana Skies seemingly non-stop tour schedule has taken them all across the US as well as to Canada, Asia, and Russia; and their dedication to their musical vision has helped them build an enthusiastic grassroots fan base along the way. Combining elements of classical technique, jazz improv and the power and energy of rock n’ roll; Jonathan’s guitar wizardry and Jenn’s blazing electric cello combine to create a sound that is truly remarkable. While the music defies simple categorization, it is a fusion in the truest sense of the word. It’s been called everything from chamber rock to psychedelic strings. Tickets: $20 Reserved Floor, $15 General, $12 Student/Senior, $10 BAC Members.
